Frank van Rosmalen

Frank van Rosmalen is a Technical Physician at the department of Intensive Care Medicine at the Maastricht UMC+. Dr. van Rosmalen graduated in Technical Medicine with a specialisation in Medical Sensing and Stimulation. He started working for the department of Intensive Care Medicine after obtaining his PhD at Maastricht University, where he worked on the detection of repeating spatial patterns in the atria of patients with atrial fibrillation, in collaboration with the Biomedical Engineering as well as the Physiology department, together with the Cardiology department of the MUMC+.
He build an automated pipeline used for populating the Maastricht Intensive Care COVID Cohort (MaastrICCht) and was involved in the European Union funded project 'Smart4Health', which investigated a prototype for a Europe-wide electronic health record.
He is currently working on multiple projects involving Intensive Care data. His focus is on doing more with ICU data. One aspect of this is proper data preparation practices and making ICU data easier accessible for researchers and for this work he is awarded a Data2Care fellowship from Maastricht MUMC+. Other aspects are improving both nursing and physicians workflows using standard ICU data, and streamlining the ICU data acquisition process.
